BIOGRAPHY

 Amhed Mitchel is a Cuban-Canadian drummer who calls Toronto home since 2006. As a session musician Mitchel has collaborated with an vast amount of artists . In 2004 Amhed was part of the closing concert of the Tokyo Jazz Festival where he shared stage with such musical icons like the great Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Dianne Reeves and Leonel Lueke .

 

 Amhed continues to play and record with renounced artists from the music scene, such as multiple Juno Award winners and Grammy nominated Jane Bunnett and Hilario Duran, the very successful singer songwriter Marc Jordan, Shawn Kellerman , the great Lucky Peterson, Jordan John, Tim Rees, Michael Shand, Lou Pomanti, Roberto Occhipinti, Jacky Richardson, John Findlay, Rafael Zaldivar, Luis Deniz, Miguel Zenon, Carlos Averhoff Jr , Carlos Miyares ,Manuel Valera, Micah Barnes, Roberto Fonseca , Robi Botos, Dennis Rollins, Jose A Gola, The Elmer Ferrer Band, The Alexander Brown's Quintet , Robb Cappelletto trio, Alexis Baro group, Donnell Leahy , among many others.

 

From a very young age, with the guidance and inspiration of his father, a great Cuban drummer himself , Amhed was already playing and recording with Cuban music legends like Cesar Lopez and Havana Ensemble ,  the Elmer Ferrer Band , the great "Chucho" Valdes, Pablo FG , Decemer Bueno , Roberto Carcaces,.... just to mention a few. 

His first  album "Path to Heaven" was launched in 2013. His second album ''Naciente'' was launched in February 2017, both albums featured an impressive line-up of Toronto based musicians.
